Our History

My story starts in Kindergarten when I was asked in a survey what I wanted to do when I got older. My response? Be a carpenter! Some 20 years later I found this survey in my parents’ attic after having already started my own business framing houses in May 2001. It was a moment of confirmation for me. ~ Psalm 8:1-9

Andy Inch ( Founder )

Andy Inch, the founder of Inch by Inch Construction, has had a passion for building from a young age. His journey began at the age of 5, helping his grandfather build a workbench in their basement. While his contribution at that age was small, the experience ignited a lifelong love for construction. As a child, Andy spent his free time building—a treehouse here, a clubhouse there—each project a step toward honing his craft. His grandfathers, both of whom have since passed, played a significant role in shaping his early experiences, leaving memories that continue to inspire his work today.

Andy's father, a self-employed mason contractor, instilled in him two important lessons: the value of a strong work ethic and the realization that his true passion lay beyond masonry. From ages 8 to 15, Andy spent his summers working alongside his father and brother, learning the trade by mixing mortar and laying brick and block. These formative years were followed by a stint in retail, where he gained his first experience in managing people.

At the age of 19, Andy built a shed for his father and transformed his father’s garage into a woodworking shop—a passion born from three years of woodworking classes in high school. This hands-on experience laid the foundation for his career in construction.

Andy’s professional journey took off when he joined a local contractor’s framing crew at 19. Over the next two years, he helped frame approximately 100 houses. At 21, Andy ventured into self-employment, working with fellow framers before eventually forming his own crew. By age 23, he had hired his first employee and continued to frame houses for the next five years, employing up to five people. However, the housing market downturn in 2008 led Andy to shift his focus to remodeling—a field he found both challenging and rewarding.

Today, Inch by Inch Construction is the culmination of Andy’s lifelong passion for building and helping others. He has built a team that shares his enthusiasm for the trade, choosing employees who are driven by a love for construction rather than just a paycheck. Andy's commitment to quality, attention to detail, and customer satisfaction has made Inch by Inch Construction a trusted name in the building and remodeling industry.

Andy looks forward to the opportunity to serve clients and bring exceptional value to their families' building and remodeling needs. Under his leadership, Inch by Inch Construction continues to transform spaces, one project at a time. Contact us today to schedule your free estimate.
